Part 1, the first Saturday of the Week 1, 09/25 whole day, with two assignments:
●Assignment A (in the morning 09/25), interdisciplinary understanding by juniors critics on seniors thesis
- six thesis are selected from your IPCS senior fellows, two social sciences, two life sciences and two earth sciences (see below as their reports in English)
- you are asked to read two thesis of your IPCS seniors, ideally, one is close to your undergraduate major (priority 1) and the other is different from your major (priority 2). Then we expect every thesis will have 5 to 6 of you as a group to read. We will do the google document for you to choose
- Those in the same group as your priority 1 need to do a group presentation to make critics on the thesis from the perspective of interdisciplinary- what the author has achieved, and what difficulty the author may face, what else needs to be done in further research. This group presentation in English needs to be recorded online for 10 minutes and uploaded by Wed 09/22.
- We ask all participants to see all online videos before coming to the office, and you also need to make a short comments to the critics video on your second priority thesis. Your comments need to be written in English online (through COOL) by 09/24.
● Assignment B (in the afternoon 09/25),
- you need to present your very rough idea of your research. The presentation also needs to be around 5 to 10 minutes. You need to upload your presentation online. |
